Student Grievances and Redressal Cell


Grievance Redressal Committee means a committee constituted under these regulations:

As per the rules and regulations addressed by the UGC / SRTMU for student or other stake holders in the Institution, “Grievance Redressal Committee” of Rajarshi Shahu Mahavidyalaya, Latur (Autonomous) has been constituted with following Staff in different positions to enquire the nature and extent of grievance.

Ojectives:

  • To formulate the policy to investigate and review complaints or grievances of students and faculties.
  • To create awareness of availability of members for students and faculties to report grievances.
  • To investigate the cause of grievances.
  • To ensure effectual solution depending upon the gravity of the grievances.
  • To make officials of the college responsive, accountable and courteous in dealing with the students.
  • To ensure effective solution to the students’ grievances with an impartial and fair approach.

Functions and responsibilities:

  • All the grievances of the students/staff which could not be settled in the routine process should be referred to this committee.
  • Committee tries to settle the issues amicably in a time bound manner.
  • Introduces a reasonable and reliable solution for grievances of various issues received from students/parents.
  • Ensures that the grievances are resolved on time impartially and confidentially.

“Grievances” include the following complaints of the aggrieved students, namely:

  • Demand of excess money other than that specified in the declared admission policy or approved by the competent authority to be charged by the institution.
  • Complaints of the students, from the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Minority or Disabled categories.
  • Non publication of prospectus/broacher, as specified.
  • Denial of quality education as promised at the time of admission or required to be provided.
  • Publishing any information in the prospectus, which is false or misleading, and not based on facts.
  • Delay in conduct of examinations or declaration of results beyond that specified in the academic calendar.
  • On provision of student amenities as may have been promised or required to be provided by the institution.
  • Non transparent or unfair evaluation practices.
  • Non-payment or delay in payment of scholarships to eligible student that such institution is committed, under the conditions imposed by University Grants Commission, or by any other authority.

Functions:

  • Redressal of Students’ Grievances to solve their academic and administrative problems.
  • To co-ordinate between students and Departments / Sections to redress the grievances.
  • To guide ways and means to the students to redress their problems.

Exclusions:

GRC shall not entertain following issues.
  • Decisions of the Academic Council / Board of studies and other academic / administrative committees constituted by the college.
  • Decisions with regard to award of scholarships / fee concessions / awards / medals.
  • Decisions made by college under the Discipline Rules and Misconduct.
  • Decisions of the college in admissions of my courses.
  • Decisions of the competent authority on assessment and examination result.

Procedure, Periodicity and Attendance at Meetings:

  • The Grievance Committee will meet as and when required. However, if necessary, it may meet more frequently at the instance of the Chairman or at the request of the other members to discuss the various issues received.
  • At least three members of the Grievance Committee shall be present in a meeting.
  • If a member of the Grievance Committee is connected with the grievance of the aggrieved individual, the concerned member of the Grievance Committee shall not participate in the deliberations regarding that individual's case.
  • If the aggrieved person happens to be a member of the Grievance Committee, then he/she shall not participate in the deliberations as a member of the Committee when his/her representation is being considered.
  • The Grievance Redressal Committee shall study the petition / application and after looking into the relevant documents discuss with those concerned and submit its recommendations and report to the Principal as expeditiously as possible, but in any case within three months of the date of petition /application.
  • In case of any difficulties, the Grievance Committee shall have discussion with the Principal before a decision is taken.
  • The Grievance Redressal Committee may mediate between the complainant and defendant against whom the complaint has been made, if required.

Procedure of Submitting Grievance:

  • The aggrieved member shall submit his/her petition to the Chairman, Grievance Redressal Committee in a sealed envelope marked "confidential".
  • On receipt of a petition the Grievance Redressal Committee will endeavour to send its recommendation to the Principal within one month if possible, but in any case not beyond three months, for further action.
  • In case of false and frivolous complaint (if proved), the Grievance Redressal Committee will recommend Principal/ Disciplinary Authority to take appropriate action against the complainant.
