DEPARTMENT OF SPORTS AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION
The Department of Sports was started in 1970 with the establishment of College. The college, which was started with a small number of students and inherited from the rural areas, had a lot of shortcomings in terms of sports equipment and everything else, but in 1974, Mr. Vishwanath Gaikwad, the current director of sports, was appointed and the sports department got a new lease of life. He was a great kho-kho player himself. Seeing the passion, integrity, perseverance and zeal of the players from rural areas, he started participating in various sports competitions and not only competed in wrestling, volleyball and kho-kho but also won medals and college players in the university team.
In the year 1977-78, the first national player was given to the college by the sports department in the Maharashtrian sport of wrestling. According to the growing number of students in the college in the year 1980, Professor Mrs. Kusumatai More (Patil) was appointed and the formation of female players was given a boost. Late. Prof. Tatya Kadam and Aniruddha Birajdar and Mrs. Ratnarani Koli Madam took charge of the department. Mallakhamba, Rope Mallakhamba, Yogasana are not only Indian but also basketball, lawn tennis, softball, cricket, net ball, baseball, judo, boxing, weightlifting, taekwondo and many other foreign sports department of sport have given many number of national as well as university players to college.
The worm section, which started in 1970, has grown into a small plant with various facilities like 400 meter track, indoor hall, swimming pool, basketball court, lawn tennis court, table tennis hall and well equipped gymnasium. Based on these facilities, All India Net Ball and Soft Ball competitions are successfully organized by the Sports Department, while State and many other competitions are organized every year. As a result, Kumari Jyoti Pawar was selected in the Indian team at the 2nd BFA Women's Asian Baseball Championship in 2019-20 (Chin) and was crowned the College Head.
